Some stuff I did in Quake 2
Weapon specific doors in Quake 2. They may need some tweaking because you can still open rocket doors if you shoot them ten times with the normal blaster. Textures may be missing. I made this real quick just to see if it could be done in vanilla Quake 2 and to learn how to use doors and make maps in Quake 2 (I previously had no clue how to make doors open vertically or how to get them to trigger simultaneously). You can take a look at the file if you, too, are new to mapping Quake 2, so that you can learn how various entities and keys work relative to each other. ".map" files are opened in a map editor and ".bsp" go in Quake 2's baseq2/maps folder.
